- Model: SHAKMAT-TIME-WIZZARD
The Time Wizard converts simple clock signals into weird, polyrhythmic trigger sequences. – Great basic material for complex beats. Interesting rhythms can be created by simply connecting drum voices to the module. More advanced results are achievable by synchronizing a sequencer to the Time Wizard. This way, it is not only possible to generate abstract drum patterns, but melodies with odd time signatures as well. The Time Wizard's magical powers are based on six clock dividers, a multiplier plus logic circuits. A total of 81 routing combinations can be set up.
DETAILS
The Time Wizard features six clock dividers, which share a clock input and a reset input. For editing the module, there are six potentiometers and four switches. Using the knobs, musicians can choose from eight divisors per clock divider:
- A1 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
- A2 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16
- A3 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16
- B4 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
- B5 – 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128
- B6 – 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128
As you can see from the list above, the clock dividers of the Time Wizard are organized in two groups. Each of them offers some special functions, which can be activated via the module’s switches:
- The clock dividers of group A are preceded by a multiplier. The settings x1, x3 and x4 are available.
- Alternatively to the main input, group B can be clocked via the module’s reset input. It is also possible to use B4 as master for B5 and B6.
- Logic functions make it possible to connect A2 and B5 (AND) respectively A2 and A3 (OR).
- As an alternative to the reset input, B6 can also be used to reset group A or all clock dividers.
Clock signals generated by the Time Wizard are emitted via six individual outputs. – One per clock divider. Instead of triggers, B5 and B6 can produce half period gate signals.
